We're baaack.
After 17 days either without an internet connection or time to use one, we're back online. There is some catching up to do. A lot has transpired since the last post but we'll pick up where we left off, Las Vegas.
Part of this lifestyle of living fulltime in an RV and being just where ever you happen to be when it is time to do things you need to do as a routine part of life means an extra degree of difficulty to go through. Getting a flu shot is usually a no-brainer for us. I would get mine on flu-shot day at work and Cyndee would just pop in to her primary care doctor's office. Not this year. It took a phone call to our new insurance company (we had to change from an HMO to a PPO when we retired) to get a list of potential clinics in the Las Vegas area that we could get a flu shot. It took several calls down that list to find a place that had the serum in stock, would take new patients and was less than an hours drive away. But Cyndee tracked one down and we headed over.
This year the flu shot is formulated to work on four different strains of flu. We have both been taking flu shots since they became available and generally neither of us have no more of a reaction other than maybe a little soreness in the arm where the shot was administered. And this time was no different, for Cyndee. I, on the other hand had a whopper of a reaction. My body thought is was having a full-on attack of the flu and it went into battle mode. I had fever, joint and muscle pain, wicked lower back pain from my kidneys and zero appetite for three days. I went up to lay in bed the afternoon of the day I got the shot and didn't get out of bed for 72 hours. Cyndee pumped Tylenol into me every four hours and thankfully that took enough of the edge off of the fever and pain so I could just sleep. Cyndee also called the clinic we went to and they confirmed that, yeah, sometimes "stuff" happens. Oh well, we are waiting on a shipment of a new satellite dish anyway. Might as well spend the time passed out instead of sightseeing.
The new satellite dish arrived as scheduled and the technicians came out to do the install. They got their end done and I hit the power button (with fingers crossed). The dish came alive and was taking quite awhile to locate the satellites, I was getting worried. But then it announced that it had locked onto all three satellites and signal strength numbers started coming in. Instead of 0's, 20's and 60's I started seeing high 90's all across the board. Well alright!
The picture was perfect and rock-steady and all the bells and whistles of the receiver started working. We're in business now. Another day or so of recuperating and we will be ready to travel. We need to start heading east for our Big Bend adventure.

Hey Theresa! Thanks for the welcome back. Yeah, we have missed writing the blog too. It has been seriously tough getting connected. Sometimes it has been because of a lack of connection, sometimes because we have just been busy having so darned much fun. But we are back to being in a fixed location for awhile that includes a fixed routine. I'll gladly get back to my evening writing again.
