Same Place, New Position
As promised, Dan the repair man came calling about 10:00 am. He asked us to pull in the slides, disconnect the services and pull up the leveling jacks. By the time we did that, 10 minutes tops, Dan had returned with a fork truck that had a kingpin adapter on the forks. He expertly brought the two rigs together and in seconds the little bitty fork truck was walking away with the great big trailer.
It is seriously hot in Junction City today, 104 deg in the shade and a heat index of 114 so they tackled mostly inside items today. All our lights are working now and I have a new power outlet in the power management closet. They also did a continuity test on the cable coax from the outside box to the entertainment center. Despite not being able to get a cable signal to come through the whole time we were in GA (we used the satellite connection), they could not find anything wrong. Frustrating because there is no cable out here at the factory to do a test connection with. Oh well, with the satellite installation tomorrow we may never need a cable hook up again.
To do the satellite dish install on the roof they are going to have us button everything up again in the morning and then move the rig through the garage door we are parked in front of now. It will be hot up in the rafters of that metal building but it will be better than working on the roof out in the direct sun. Not sure when they are going to tackle the water heater that is plumbed backwards or the rear window that is not fitting flush up against the wall.
The New Horizons folks were busy but it was a lot of thumb-twiddling and novel reading for us. Looks like the same for tomorrow. We should get an estimated time of completion by noon, we'll have a pretty good idea whether we need to change our reservations for Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado or not.
Nothing like seeing your home being wagged around by a fork truck. |
